Lewis "Butch" Howard Kittle, III, a Beckley dentist son, Scott Lewis Howard Kittle of Huntersville, North Carolina son-in-law, Terry Miller of Charleston, WV sister, Joan Groves of Martinsburg, WV niece, Nancy Lynn Groves and special cousin, Charles Cameron Lewis, II. Kittle was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dr. She was known to Hally, Thad, Teagan and Terynn as "Bubbles" and how she loved them! Mrs. She loved people, nature, travel and to laugh. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again". As William Penn stated, "I expect to pass through life but once. Nancy was a very friendly lady who was always generous and tried to do the right thing. She cherished her family and friendships. Never did she put her wishes before others'. She was a caring, selfless and conscientious daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Her passion for family largely dominated her life. She also served on the board of the Beckley Area Foundation. Kittle was a life member of Briarcliff Garden Club serving in several office positions including two years as president. She later served as president of Contact. She was a member of the steering committee of Beckley Contact Teleministries which brought a telephone suicide contact line to Raleigh County. As a member of the First Christian Church of Beckley, Nancy served as a deacon and as Membership Chairperson. Kittle was a finalist Candidate for Teacher of the Year in Raleigh County in 1988. ![]() While at Shady Spring, she acted as Chairman of the Social Committee, vice-president of the Faculty Senate, and was elected three times to the Who's Who in American Teachers. She retired from Shady Spring Elementary. She began her teaching career at Riverside Junior High School in Morgantown, West Virginia and continued on to teach sixth grade in Raleigh County at Shady Spring Elementary School. Nancy had a soft spot in her heart for young people. Kittle received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia University and a Master of Arts degree in Speech Communications also from WVU. She graduated from Morgantown High School, Monongalia County, West Virginia, in 1960 but was claimed by Woodrow Wilson's class of '60. Nancy attended Central Elementary School, Beckley Junior High School and Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, WV. and Virginia McGinnis Scott, whose parents had settled in Raleigh County in 1839. She was the oldest daughter of the late Hal McGinnis and Jo Willis Scott and the granddaughter of the late Thaddeus K. Kittle was born in Raleigh County, West Virginia. Nancy Hull Scott Kittle of Huntersville, North Carolina, formerly of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
